There’s something about Coachella (you pretty much can’t avoid it this time of year) and sunny California that evoke such a carefree and peaceful spirit (at least compared to NYC!). Coachella means spring is finally here. Frigid winter has passed!
Not headed to a festival anytime soon? No worries. The whole point is to pick up on the vibe and use it to brighten up and (literally) lighten your wardrobe. Starting to show a bit of sun-starved skin as the weather slowly warms up on the East Coast is the most delightful feeling!
I added a flowy top—I love the subtly sexy sheer panel in the back, perfect for staying cool on hot desert nights, or, er, at hot, crowded NYC bars!—(try this top and this one), a coppery toned headband worn ’70s style (I found this one at a drugstore, try these beautiful ones: here and here), and flats (these have little owls on them! On sale here).
Plus, this vintage bracelet and ring piece, which my grandmother gave me when I turned 16.
The combination of the headband, bohemian-style jewelry AND the long-sleeve, loose top and slightly flared jeans is what makes this look so festival-with-an-east-coast-twist.
If it’s chilly by you (while the Coachella world is prancing around in tiny high-waisted shorts and crop tops this weekend, ::sigh::), throw on a long, oversized sweater or utility style jacket, and you can make this look—and that free-spirited California state of mind—all your own.
Xoxo, H
P.S. Check back next week for part 2, featuring another cool, easy way to wear flared jeans, festival style!
