We've been having the weirdest weather in New York. It's in the 60s one minute and then it dips down to the 30s the next (I refuse to pull out my puffer coat!). I'm so into festival style (duh), but wearing Coachella-friendly, skin-baring looks isn't quite doable just yet. So that's why I love a dress like this.
It's flowy and boho and yet warm enough for when the temps dip (with a coat and sweater). There's also something about showing bits of skin (or in this case not much at all, haha) that’s sexy to me. This has a keyhole opening in the front that goes down pretty low, so I layered a tank under it when I wore it to work, just so I wasn't flashing anyone 😜. But for wearing it out for drinks or dinner, it's fine as is (I'd pair it with a leather jacket).
I've been using Rent the Runway for a few months now, and I rented this dress from them. I'm doing Rent the Runway Update, which is about $97 each month. I can pick four pieces (dresses, coats, bags, jewelry, etc.) and keep them for 30 days. It's a major help during wedding season and since this is very much the year of weddings for me, it's been a real lifesaver. I love getting fun pieces that I don't normally splurge on, like this dress or the Chloé bag pictured. Once I've been using RTR for several months, I'll review it on Galbraith, if you're interested! Feel free to shoot me questions if you have any (heather@galbraiththeblog.com).
So the trick with East Coast festival style? Suede boots, a felt hat and a full-length floral dress. I love that the pattern here is darker, so this would be an easy style to wear all throughout winter, fall and early spring (layers being key!).
This Joie dress is through my Rent the Runway subscription (I found a size small on Ebay here or you can see similar styles here, here, here and here, also love this dress for moms to be!). The hat was a gift (similar here and ohmygosh, this soft pink one! 😍) and the boots are ASOS (try these and these). The bag is See by Chloé via Rent the Runway (loved the small design and the color!).
As always, thank you so much for reading Galbraith. Coming up in the next few weeks: mother's day gifts the amazing women in your life will *actually* want and the details of our trip to Paris and southern France (so. many. baguettes!).
I'm spending some time with my mom and sister this weekend. 🤗 Hope you get time to yourself and with loved ones. Wishing you a peaceful weekend!
Xoxo, Heather
