The fun parts of this time of year in New York: the way the city transforms with a coat of sparkling white snow, how suddenly quiet and serene the streets are, seeing little kids gleefully making snow angels on the sidewalk.
The not-so-fun parts: when it's terribly freezing out, the wind howls in your face, and you have to put on 17 layers before you step outside. Ah, New York winters.
A snowstorm just hit parts of the East Coast, so I'm pretty much snowed in for the weekend (or at least for today), but I've been meaning to write about my love for trapper hats, so there couldn't be a better time. They're quirky, super warm—they fully covers the ears (yay!)—and they have that old-school, borrowed-from-the-guys vibe. Sometimes literally: At least one of my trapper hats (I have three, it could be a problem) is a "men's" hat. Here are six similar styles to add to your winter look—and set you apart from the sea of beanies.
1. White faux fur with pom-pom ties.
2. Navy green and faux-fur lined.
3. Red, white, and blue knit with faux-fur pom-pom ties.
4. Tweed with faux-fur lining.
Stay warm out there, my sweet friends!
xoxo, Heather
