The beauty of trends is that they're often cyclic—styles from decades ago or even a few years ago are suddenly fresh again. Trends can also be a bit contradictory: super chunky earrings are in, but delicate ones are in, too... Keeping up can be tough, which is why, to me, true trendsetters are the ones who mix things up and don't worry too much about the "rules."
Also: Being stylish doesn't mean you have to spend tons of money. I love the idea of buying less and shopping your closet (saves money and time, and can feel as good as something brand new!). Here, I've rounded up three spring trends that you just might own already.
1. Hoop Earrings
This classic style is more than a trend and it transcends any sort of "season" (plus hoops have a ton of cultural and historical significance). Hoops can blend in and add polish to a look or they can stand out and make a statement. They match everything, work for both casual and dressier looks and they just happen to look especially modern right now.
Try it with your hair swept in a bun or pinned back behind one ear (if your hair is longer); this one is super simple and there are no rules: gold, silver, big, small, skinny or wide, they all work!
Shop the look curled up, hammered 14K gold and double hoop.
2. Pastels
Pastels in spring are like florals in spring: pretty much a given. And why shouldn't they be? After wearing a ton of heavy dark colors (and lots of layers), it's such a relief to don calming, vibrant tones. Talk about clothing that boosts your mood!
Try it (and shop the look) with a tee, jeans (yay for colorful jeans being back!), a floor-sweeping dress or a bodysuit... or ease into the trend with leggings, a bag or quirky sneaks.
3. Denim on Denim
Got a denim jacket or button-down? Try pairing it with your favorite jeans—flared, skinny, boyfriend, etc. As long as you don't give, er, trailblazers Britney and Justin a run for their money, you're good. (This may sound crazy, but I actually adore her dress! 😍 #neverenoughdenim)
Try it by pairing contrasting washes (light-wash with dark-wash) OR pairing two washes that are pretty close to the same shade. Stand out by picking denim with bleach spots, distressing or ruffles.
Shop the look medium-wash wrap top, light-wash button-down, light-wash boyfriend jeans and dark-wash skinny jeans, dark-wash lace-up sneakers. P.S. If you're feeling daring, try this or this.
I'm curious, are there any style questions or dilemmas you're having right now? I would love to try and help—I'm all ears!
Wishing you all a peaceful, warm weekend!
Heather xoxo
