I know, I know, summer isn't over until September 21st—and I will be soaking up every bit of those last few days that I can—but I'm craving a bit of fall style. (I bet you are, too!) That's why I'm all about this outfit: it incorporates fall (the flannel, the denim) and summer (the sandals, my frizzed-up hair, the mermaid ring).
Dressing for the last few weeks of summer, when it's still warm and you're feeling fall styles, can be a leetle tough though. That's why the white sandals and beachy jewelry here balance out the autumn-y flannel. Plus, as the nights get cooler (or it's a windy day or you're sitting in freezing AC for eight hours, etc.), a top like this one will keep you warm, duh! I can't wait to layer it a million ways (and wear it deep into winter). The colors on this flannel are gorgeous, and it looks supercool when you dress it down for laying low and it looks just as good when you dress it up. (Tune in next week for a dressier way to work it.) Go for a flannel top that's a little oversized and pair it with your favorite boyfriend jeans (I linked a few affordable ones below), and you'll give off comfy-cool, taking-a-walk-by-my-lakehouse vibes.
Flannel top: Uniqlo. Also try these from: Forever 21, Abercrombie & Fitch, Land's End, and Nasty Gal
Boyfriend jeans: H&M (similar here, here, and here)
White sandals: Shellys London (similar here, here, and here)
Mermaid ring: from a store on Fire Island (similar here and here)
Frizzy hair: courtesy of the humidity
Basically, I'm in love with this look because it's all messy hair, lumberjack-y, and boyish. (Read: easy!) Now I just need that lakehouse and I'm all set.
Stay tuned for Look 2, my friends, also starring this flannel!
Xoxo, Heather
P.S. Here's last year's post on dressing for summer and fall.
