Spring Style Must-Have: The Flat Espadrille

If you close your eyes and picture a woman walking down the street in (flat) espadrilles, what do you see? Is she in a sundress? Maybe she’s wearing edgy leather leggings. Or preppy, bright shorts and a peasant top. However she looks, I bet she’s got a breezy vibe, like she just stepped off of a yacht or she’s returning from a week on the coast of France.

Ok, enough daydreaming. That girl you envisioned might seem worlds away from you right now. But these espadrilles, they are so YOU. And you, my dear, can be that easygoing, light-hearted girl. Obviously it takes more than shoes to feel that way. Luckily spring seems to be (finally!) here, which nudges us in a happier direction with sunshine and just-warm-enough weather. When the sun is out, it makes me jump-up-and-down happy (especially after this winter). Likewise, my mood is a little bleaker when it’s dark and gloomy out. Anyway, I digress, back to the shoes!

My top eight picks, starting at $25: Alloy, $25

H&M, $25

Gap, $40

Soludos, $43 (This brand is EVERYTHING when it comes to espadrilles! I’m lusting after these.)

J Crew, $60

Leather, Sam Edelman, $70

Suede, Free People, $78

Tory Burch, $150

Espadrilles (especially flat ones) can be easily dressed up or down. They go from spring to summer shoe in a snap (except for the suede, leather and sequin examples above - that would be way too much sweaty foot - but for now, while it’s still cool out, they’re perfect). Plus, who doesn’t love a shoe that you can shove your feet into and go?

I hope these espadrilles bring a bit of sunshine to your day!
