It wasn't until I had worn this dress a few times (in broad daylight around New York City and to work, naturally) that I realized it's see-through in certain lights. And while I don't mind wearing a sheer top where you can kinda see my bra (for a night out, mind you, not work, ha!), I don't really want to be showing off my underwear to strangers on the street. 🙆🏼🙅🏼
So I was clearly upset (um, pun intended) and a bit embarrassed TBH, and thinking I couldn't wear the dress again. And then I passed a woman on the street one morning and I saw her wearing a long button-up dress over jeans, and I was like, Ahh, that's it! So I decided to only wear this dress with pants, half unbuttoned, and belted at the waist, like you see here. It ended up being a fun twist on my original way of wearing it, which was, er, just the normal button-up dress way. Here I belted it with an old vintage scarf of my mom's, added suede boots from Asos and a boho hat from Target. And hey, if I hadn't had the see-through dilemma, I might not have thought to wear the dress this way.
I've linked some similar button-up shirt dresses below for you. You can switch up the jeans you wear with the dress, the belt you use, etc, and it's a new look each time. Holla!
