This was one of my favorite photo shoots for Sugar & Spice so far this year (it was also the most painful one, as I’ll explain, ha!). I got this striped dress at Marshalls a few weeks ago. It happens to have a mock turtleneck, but besides that, it’s sleeveless, which leads me to why, for obvious reasons, this is the worst outfit to wear on a snowy day.
I think I somehow thought heels would work in several inches of snow… in a field on Long island. Of course, I froze my arse off and felt ridiculous. But, alas, isn’t that c’est la vie for a fashion blogger?!
I must often think when I’m getting dressed that I live in a California sort of winter. No such luck!
I like to call this my “Kim Kardashian light” look, because, well, the dress is rather tight and long, and shows off what curves I have. (See what I mean here and here.) Kim’s style has some great foundations that you can build upon for your own looks. Balance out a tight, long dress with layers—no need to show a ton of skin, since it’s sexy as is. Adding a leather jacket and beanie keeps the outfit looking edgy and cool. Throw in heels if you want to dress it up a bit. I stuck with a lower, almost kitten heel here to keep things, er, classy.
Here are a few of the silly behind-the-scene photos from this shoot. Below I’m struggling to put on heels in several inches of snow… that didn’t go so well.
I was laughing, but actually freezing too. Snow inside your shoes (when you’re barefoot) as it turns out, is quite painful!
I believe this was when I started to lose feeling in my toes. (Hahaha! Ridiculous.)
There you have it! This is a super short post today, crazy week on my end. Thank you, as always, for reading. See you next week!
