I can’t get enough of tote bags (of the cloth variety) right now. Some people use them for groceries… I like using them when I travel, for running errands on the weekend or even to take to work when I don’t feel like lugging a big, heavy bag around.
The more tongue-in-cheek or funny or artistic the bag, the better. They can cost literally a few bucks (I use one all the time from Forever 21 with a big question mark on it - here’s a similar one… $4!) and who doesn’t love lazy-girl, laidback style?
I like to take note of the way a lot of Brooklyn women dress — they look chic in a “not-trying-too-hard” way (à la Alexa Chung).
As much as I love glam, dressed-up outfits, lately I find myself gravitating towards the simpler clothing in my closet. Less accessories, less fussing with my hair, lower heels or boots, which equals less thinking when getting dressed, better mobility (no fears of tripping in heels!) and it makes it easier to get out the door on time.
Tote bags fit perfectly into that grab-and-go equation. Plus, they’re roomy and match pretty much everything. I like to stick with black-and-white combos so I don’t have to worry about clashing with any colors I’m wearing.
The eight totes here, all under $25, are some of my favorites. I especially adore the one above of the French elephant Babar, from the children’s books - he’s doing all different yoga poses!
